There’s no better idea for a remodeling than to turn your basement into a warm and cheerful family room. If you’ve always loved the idea of having a large and bright family room that’s complete with a large entertainment center, lots of plush couches and a roaring fireplace, you can have one right in our basement. With some tweak, your basement remodeling can take the form of a warm and large family room where the family can gather to lounge around or watch movies together. If your present living conditions don’t allow for a large family room, consider turning your old basement into one!
Your new family room will need warmer peachy colors to make up for the loss of natural light inside the basement. Forget the funky purple - dark colors will make a basement look even darker. If natural ventilation is insufficient, make provision for adequate artificial lighting. Your home theater can get away with low lighting, but your family room will have to be bright and cheerful.
Use carpets to hide unseemly bumps or irregularities in the flooring. Make sure there is plenty of storage space and lots of book shelves all around. Hanging lights are an absolute no-no because ceiling height is so limited. Consider recessed lighting that’s fitted into false ceiling to save on space.
